A Space to Talk Without Judgement

What Can Teen Counselling Help With?

Counselling That Works for the Individual

Being a teenager can be complicated. School, friendships, relationships, family life and worries about the future can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Counselling gives teenagers a private, supportive space to talk openly about what's happening, make sense of difficult feelings and feel heard without being judged or told what they should think.

Counselling can also help teenagers better understand themselves, their emotions and the challenges they are facing. It can also help them develop healthier ways of coping with stress, anxiety and difficult situations. Over time, this can build greater confidence, resilience and trust in their own ability to cope.

Young people come to counselling for many different reasons. I support teenagers experiencing:

  • Anxiety, worry and feeling overwhelmed

  • Low confidence and self-esteem

  • Low mood and difficult emotions

  • Friendship and relationship difficulties

  • Bullying and social pressures

  • School and exam stress

  • Family difficulties or separation

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Anger and emotional regulation

  • ADHD and neurodivergence-related challenges

Sometimes there isn't one obvious problem — they may simply know that things don't feel right.

Not every teenager finds it easy to sit and talk about their feelings. Sessions are adapted to the individual young person and how they feel most comfortable communicating.

We might talk, use creative activities, explore situations together or find practical ways of understanding emotions and experiences. There is no pressure to arrive knowing what to talk

about.

The aim is to create a space where teenagers can be themselves and explore things at their own pace. Together, we can find ways of making sense of what feels difficult or overwhelming. Over time, counselling can help young people feel more confident expressing themselves and managing the challenges they face.

Online Counselling for Teenagers

Teenagers don't always want to discuss everything with their parents, teachers or friends. Sometimes having an adult outside their everyday life can make it easier to be open.

Counselling provides a space where a young person can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace, without worrying about upsetting someone they care about.

Trust is an important part of counselling. What a young person talks about in their sessions is treated with respect and confidentiality, within appropriate safeguarding boundaries.

Parents and carers remain important, but teenagers also need a therapeutic space that feels like their own. Before counselling begins, I explain clearly how confidentiality and parental involvement will work.

Many teenagers are comfortable communicating online and appreciate being able to attend counselling from their own familiar environment.

Sessions take place privately online, without travelling to a therapy room. All your teenager needs is a suitable device, reliable internet connection and somewhere private where they can talk without being overheard.

If your teenager is struggling, get in touch and we can talk about whether online counselling could be the right support for them.

What to Expect in Our Sessions

We focus on creating a gentle, creative environment where young minds feel safe to share. Our goal is to foster a safe space for growth and emotional discovery, ensuring that every therapeutic journey is as unique as the child themselves.
